And if so...

Whatchathank????

I see they've finally got a weighted 88 board so I'm pondering the situation.

I bought the 61-key version a few months ago.

It's built well...
Have to get used to the pitch/mod strips (rather than wheels or joystick).
The key-bed feels much better than most MIDI controllers.
I haven't installed the latest software update (will do that soon).
Browsing thru Komplete sounds directly from the keyboard is a huge step forward for work-flow.

If the 88-key version's key-bed isn't overly stiff/sluggish (murder on my tendentious), I'll end up getting it.

I just bought the KK61 yesterday so don't have much experience with it yet.

Pretty nice to browse thru presets and adjust plug-in parameters with the keyboard knobs and buttons. Seems to work well.

I haven't had any luck making the transport controls work with Sonar probably because I don't know my way around the ACT thing very well. NI knowledge base says you have to configure KK as an MCU control surface which I think I did, but no joy.

And I got another $25 e-voucher that I'll never use.

Whilst researching the Komplete Kontrol keyboards, I came across Matt Cellitti on YouTube with some excellent advanced tutorial stuff (I can tell I'm going to have to go through these several times to learn it properly). One of the great things about these videos is that they're covering before and after the latest 1.5 release of the software.  I was pretty amazed and I'm sure you'll find this is useful to you:-

(I haven't purchased the KK49 yet, but the decision is made!)

I have just picked up an s61, not tried it with sonar yet but messing around with it in ableton a bit and its a nice piece of kit for sure. Browsing through komplete is a pleasure, the only problem now is gas is kicking in and even though I already have an ableton push I cant help but think how slick it must be to have maschine + the s61 together. Dammit I'm gonna have to buy maschine :D

Anyone one tried the 88 key version yet?

I can't find any detail on what fatar keybed they build in ... it's heavy (14.4 kg) but probably not heavy enough for the best piano fatar keybed ... so i reckon it must be some weighted plastic key version, but I'd appreciate if anyone knows the specs.

I wonder if it could also work as stage piano replacement - any ideas on robustness of the controller / stability of komplete in live situations???  I probably discard the idea as there would be too many components to carry / rig up / potentially fail (S88, audio interface, laptop) but need to research properly first ...

lots of good info and discussion at V.I. Control here and here In particular, dealing with the types of keyboards (wish the 88 WASN'T weighted.... arrrg).

I think I will be end up getting one of these if some more software companies jump aboard. It seems that Orange Tree Samples has which is very good :) I just wish they had a 73 key model with the 88's keys.
