When I book a flight three or four months in advance I rarely give it much thought what time I have to wake up to get to the airport.

My flight takes off at 6:55Am tomorrow morning. I Am 30 minutes from the airport. If I Am to get to the airport the requisite 2 hours ahead of time that means I must arrive at 5:55Am. Which means I must leave my house @ 4:25Am. Which means I have to be showered by then. Which means I have to get up at 3:45Am

There was a time when that was go to sleep o'clock. I'll be hitting the sheets at 10:00PM tonight.

Strange days indeed. Most peculiar Mamma.

God forbid you do a PM flight, then the am joke would go to pot ...

I wanted to do a PM flight but tonight is the celebration of my oldest (15) and youngest (2 on Saturday) grandsons' birthdays.

Leaving in 10 minutes.

Is that "Bapu math?"  In my world, two hours before 6:55Am is 4:55Am, not 5:55Am.  Just sayin'...

Bapu Math.  That's good.  At least the TSA lines should be pretty short at 4:55Am.

Have a safe trip.  Bon voyage, Bapu.

Uh oh...  No Jan, that's NOT good!  That just means they have more time for the "Royal Rubber Glove" treatment with their "customers!"

If you hear one say "I think I'll go for a new watermark today!" - I'd consider driving to Chicago...  (Just sayin'...)

I hadn't thought of that!  I'm glad you're here to think things through.  I hope Bapu doesn't run into any TSA spelunkers.

That's a bit strict there, Ed. As long as you're flying in the US, 60-90 minutes ahead of departure time should be enough. 2 hours is for overseas flights. I've never heard of 2 hours before on a flight within the US. I'd say 90 minutes tops even for a busy airport....but I usually go with 1 hour since my two airports Philly and Atlantic City are quick and painless getting through security. Have a safe flight and tell Mooch and his wife to be congrats from me. Have a great time! :)
