  • Smooth silky ballad reverb - FX chain?

I hear this smooth silky ballad reverb on many songs. You can especially hear it when it's the vocal by itself with no music. It's a vocal with maybe 1/2sec to 1 sec delay, but the vocal is separated from the delay with the delay way in the background sounding like it's in a sea of reverb and FX. Years ago people like Celine Dion and some Enya were some of the first ones to use this sort of approach. Are there any recommendations of an FX chain to duplicate this easily

I love the reverb /delay on Arthur's Theme by Christopher Cross - I'd like to know what it was.

I bought the Sonnox Oxford Reverb for $250.  But I find myself going more to the Lexicon Reverb that came bundled with 8.0 or before. The Wide Chamber setting is especially beautiful on ballads.  I almost never use the Breverb because I just find it too bright.  The new ProChannel convolution reverb is pretty nice I find.  And I also own the Waves Convolution Reverb which doesn't get a lot of use.

I really liked the Lexicon Reverb too, but since I'm now using 64 bit Platinum I can't use it. Are you still using 32 bit? I'll check out the new ProChannel convolution reverb

That slight delay you hear before the reverb kicks in is pre-delay. It is usually a knob that is included on any good reverb plugin. The more pre-delay you add, the longer the time between the dry vox and the reverb kicking in. Used subtly it can really clean up a reverb track and make the vox clearer.

I have the Lexicon PCM native reverb that is 32 bit but works fine with windows 10 and Sonar Platinum
It always sounds great.

Are you talking about the reverb that came with Sonar 8? It's a DX reverb not VST and from what I understand can't work in 64 bit Platinum. Maybe I'm missing something here

no this one was purchased to separately
It is a VST version
All these Reverbs seem to have a sound of Their Own
The BreReverb reminds me of the Reverb that is in the Roland vs 2480
Just needs tweeking, not twerking...sorry..I was typing on my phone LOL
