I have to check this "up-sampling" thing out. Sounds really promising. The ability to improve the sound of your samples? Could be a game changer.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm but that isn't what upsampling does.
Definitely not sarcasm. Not sure why you would think that. I guess I just misunderstood it. Sorry if my ability to grasp complex audio technology isn't up to your specifications. (And I am not being sarcastic here either. Just tired of being devalued by people who, because they know more, attribute ulterior motives where there are none).
Context and nuance are not the strong points of a text-only medium. And unfortunately, there are no "language police" who set definitions. Just think how many meanings "loop" has..."sample" is another one of those terms that's not all that well-defined. I guess
technically speaking in a supernerd context, although I know this isn't what you meant by "samples," "upsampling"
does improve the sound of your "samples" (as in, the individual samples that make up a piece of digital audio) because they're not reproducing foldover distortion any more.
To get back to the original point though, unfortunately upsampling does not improve the sound of audio that already contains foldover distortion. It can only prevent audio from
acquiring foldover distortion.
