I just got done reading Joe Jackson's fantastic musical autobiography. Been meaning to read it for years, as a lifelong JJ fan. It covers his musical development from childhood, into the Royal Academy of Music, a stretch as a cabaret pianist and various unsuccessful pub bands, before redefining himself as a New Wave artist in the late 70's. It's packed full of interesting musical insight and hilarious gigging stories...well worth a read for anyone who holds even a passing interest in music, but especially if you've been in bands. Highly recommended.
