If  Cakewalk decides to do a Coursera course , I sure hope they get somebody affiliated with Cakewalk that has verifiable top tier music production chops using SONAR to teach the course ...

I happen to like the idea of only one teacher teaching the curriculum ...

Any one who has taken a Coursera course knows the curriculum usually consists primarily of video lectures by the course teacher with additional reading materials and homework assignments the teacher has deemed acceptable as a chosen curriculum that will produce a growth in the students knowledge as long as the student does the work   ...
Once the teaching materials have been dialed to the point where the lessons  represent a valid satisfactory representation of "The Teachers A Game " of   knowledge and lessons the teacher is teaching ..
The course itself can take on a life of it's own and run in semesters or cycles ...

The whole rest of the course is peer to peer based (for better or worse) including the students grades on their homework ....

all the best,

Kenny

Lynda and Coursera would be cool. On our radar.

I currently have used the Lynda videos as I have a subscription to Lynda from my place of employment, I work for a major University.   Currently they are still using Sonar X2  for their videos and I was not that impressed by their teachings.  I thought it would have been a bit more in depth.

I would like to see Cakewalk make better use of the Sonar University site as far as offering courses there and having users log in and take in depth classes on Sonar software.  Also provide insight on the aspects of Mixing but not just topical, however.  This should be on a professional level using Sonar Mixing, recording, vocals, Backing Vocals, recording Guitars, Bass, the major instruments and recording those instruments and thee use of plugins and much, much more.

I have been watching a guy named Grahm who has the you tube channel, Recording Revolution and what he shows and explains is incredible.  He is not promoting ProTo... as a DAW, as he always says "You can use any DAW to do this, I just use this one."  He is promoting the concept of recording and mixing and how to get the job done right and to make it sound good.

Just an example of the Recording Revolution

This is how Cakewalk should be promoting how to use Sonar to it's full functionality.
