For me it's first gear.

As the Beach Boys said in "Little GTO", it's alright.

Duct tape to cover bapu's mouth when he sings and ear plugs for when he manages to pull the duct tape off and starts to sing ....everybody got something to hide except for me and my monkey

HI,

Actually ... I want a Stratus Graphite 5 String Bass and a nice Cab ... to go with it ... I got the effects! My hands, my mind and imagination. No Bapu required!

2nd is my favorite.
Low enough to call on the torque if you need to square up a turn, but high enough to keep moving, and set you up for the taller gears.
Third and up, you have to stay in the power band, which gets increasingly narrow.
First is good off the line, but will slam you against the dashboard if you are already moving.
Yeah, second is where the action is.
Man, I miss standard transmissions.

This thread leaves me feeling trample underfoot ... I think I will go and take my red Barchetta out for a drive in the country side.

Top Gear.
The British version. That American show of the same name pales in comparison.

May I suggest a nice 1997 BV Rutherford?  (You'll have to get your own fish.)
