  • Why don't some shortcuts show up in preferences - keyboard shortcuts?

I accidentally hit ctrl+numpad8 while doing some midi note editing and noticed it nudged up 1 octave. I also discovered ctrl+numpad2 nudges down 1 octave. These are super useful shortcuts and I don't see them documented anywhere.

When I opened preferences - keyboard shortcuts, they don't show up there either. Is there a reason for this?

Don't know the reason why but several shortcuts don't show up there even tho they work.

Are there any other useful ones we need to know about? :)

Hi. I believe that most of these are still in use in the latest version as well http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR%20X2&language=3&help=Menus1.182.html
Hope it helps.
All the best.

I didn't look but it seems to me that it would be due to the context sensitive nature of Nudge. As in the Nudge feature does different things in different views, when different material is selected, etc.

So the "Nudge" bindings will likely be in the shortcut Preferences and documentation but not all the things it does in all contexts. As for documentation the Nudge actions would likely be described in sections about specific views, events, etc (like what nudge will do to a clip in the track view vs. what it will do to a note in the PRV, based on what's selected, etc).

Also if the Nudge keys aren't listed in the shortcuts Prefs maybe they are permanently bound specifically because of that transient nature.

Dunno.

icontak: If you read my first post you will see the shortcuts I mentioned are CTRL+numpad8 (moves notes 1 octave up) and CTRL+numpad2 (moves notes 1 octave down)

These arent listed in any of your screenshots.

Right. Because Nudge does many different things in different areas to different material. Labelling everything it does would be too weird so they just keep it as a general "Up/Down/Left/Right" list.

I'd bet if you looked under the MIDI/Piano Roll View sections in the manual it would describe the 8ve Up/Down thing you are describing.

Cheers.

I'm not sure why you think it would be too "weird" to list what shortcuts do in different areas. Right now the user is left to guess, or find shortcuts by accident.

Even the shortcut editor shows nothing assigned to ctrl+numpad8, which means I could overwrite it without realising something was already assigned.

I can't seem to find it anywhere in the docs. I have found old threads here asking for a shortcut to do octave up/down and CAL scripts were recommended instead.
