Hey,

My subscription to SOS is running out and I'm thinking about starting up a subscription to Mix instead.

I like SOS, however besides the reviews I'm finding it to be fairly redundant issue after issue. Expecially the Mix Rescue and Studio SOS columns.  They each hit on the same topics pretty much every issue.  SOS has a Sonar column in each issue, but frankly I have not found these to be very pertinent to me.

Any Mix readers here?  You like it or not?

Thanks.

Mix used to be an industry magazine that featured studio architecture and custom install announcements. It's hard to imagine what it might be at this point.

Are you on the TapeOp mailing list?

I get Mix. It's good, it's bad, a lot of what this band is using stuff and the usual articles selling a peice of high end gear. Good outhouse reading, 'cause you'll definitely get G.A.S.

Top Op and Producers Edge usually are the two I skim from time to time. Been too busy lately to read many magazines.

I like it because it focuses on making recordings, dealing with artists, making stuff happen and I feel that once you've figured out the basics of tech that the details Tape Op discusses are so much more influential to making good recordings than any of the tech talk.

Anyways, If any one's interested... it's still free for a subscription.

all the best,
mike
