Sonar Platinum:  In the Track Pane of Piano Roll View, a track name that is a little too long for the horizontal size of the pane is not truncated or abbreviated, it is simply empty ..  seems like an easy fix and improvement to put a truncated name in place rather than a big blank.   At my current setting, "Violin II Divisi" shows the full name while "Violin II Double" (same number of chars but maybe a tiny bit longer in proportional font) shows a blank.    It can be seen by dragging the pane wider, but that's kind of silly ....

The "Synth rack" and probably other windows handle this same problem, though the addition of "..." there is irritating when a few more characters of the name would be much more informative.

I wonder ... in Windows 7, Control Panel, Display:  one can select "smaller (default) ", "medium (125%)", and "larger (150%)" font sizes as a user preference.  This has caused many issues in software.    CW, please be sure you test with these settings?

Aha: found the culprit.   When the user setting is "small (default)" the track names are treated ok ... You get the beginning of the name then three silly dots instead of three more useful characters.   But when the user setting is "medium (125%)" the track names go blank when the space is not long enough for the entire name.

This might be a good fix please, since on large high resolution monitors "small" is just TOO small.

Yes you found the culprit William...using anything other than the default text setting in Windows will not truncate the text.
This has irritated me for the past few years but as I recall most people don't have the issue (and it's not a Sonar issue).
In my case I think it's because of the integrated graphics I use which is Intel Graphics 4000 (even though it only behaves this way in Sonar)...any chance you use the same?
If so, I think I will finally invest in a GPU card.

Randy, I have a pretty powerful video card, so not sure that idea will help.   But it's possible some GPUs are better than others in this regard ..   Mine is ASUS GTX780TI:  "The ASUS GeForce® GTX 780 Ti graphics card uses an updated NVIDIA® Kepler GPU ... etc"

Hmmm...so much for my theory then...not only is that a killer card but totally different than my graphics.
Thanks William, it sure would be nice to find out what the issue is.
