I have platinum working well on Windows 7 Professional, I do have a random audio dropout at times but that is about it. Windows 10 free upgrade is it to my advantage to upgrade?

I upgraded from Win7 to Win10 and never looked back. It's working great for me and it seems to have a snappier response. I'm a believer.

I did a long time ago. I haven't looked back. All my computers are Windows 10. That is my desktop my laptop and my tablet. BTW Sonar runs great on Windows 10. The only thing is having drivers that are Win 10 compatible.

I tried Win 10 upgrade in place on Win 8.1 DAW.  In the past I alway did a clean install. I thought I would try in place and if it did not work, I would just bite the bullet and do a clean install. All my programs were still there and work flawlessly. I had to re-register AD and Melodyne since it was essentially a new machine, but that was it.
Do not do it from Windows update. Download the upgrade and make a USB stick or DVD so you have a permanent copy.

The upgrade process itself was way easier than I had expected. The OS itself seems pretty snappy. Still sometimes have to look for settings in different places.

Make sure to check if all your hardware has Windows 10 drivers and that all your favorite programs will run. Other than that, keep your authorization codes/files close as some software (e.g. Addictive Drums) will complain about the change of OS.

Just know this: Win 10 IS great, but I just had to replace one of my PCs motherboards (still the same HDD), and now I have to pay to re-register Windows. That feels a bit like Bait n Switch IMO.

I have found that if you call the MS number for manual registration and explain the situation they usuallly give you the update activation free...

Hi. I have Win 10 on both my laptop and studio pc, and I am very pleased. Updated my laptop via Windows update, and a fresh install on my studio pc. Both are stable, and would highly recommend it (the Windows update on my laptop is a bit intrusive. Win 8.1 home to Win 10 home). As others have said, make sure everything is compatible (Audio Interface, and Motherboard as LJB pointed out).
All the best.
