  • Uncomping a clip!?

In Sonar X3, when your comping in take lanes, is it possible to uncomp a clip?  This is what I mean:

Once you select a section of a take you want to keep and Sonar puts in its automatic crossfade, it seems like it wants that crossfade to exist forever.  What if I now want to extend one of the overlapping clips more than the automatic crossfade allows.  I'd like to let two takes overlap in a sound on sound manner for a bit, but I can't get this crossfade to go away so I can just extend one clip without simultaneously shortening the other one.

Please help!

Hi. The first thing that came to my mind was to clone the track, and do the "overlapping" on the cloned track. Others may have much better ideas.
All the best.

Try switching to the 'Edit' tool (the wrench) instead of the 'Smart' tool.

First, 'heal' the comping split where you want to change the overlap by selecting the clips on either side of the split in one of the lanes and then Ctrl-clicking one of them with the Comp tool.

Then use Alt with the Smart tool to get the Split tool, and create manual splits where needed in the two lanes you want to overlap, and click with the Comp tool (or manually mute/unmute using K shortcut) to make those two clips the active ones.
