  • Can I remove unpurchased IK Multimedia plugins?

Just installed IK Multimedia T-RackS Classic Software bundle that I purchased from Musicians Friend's 'stupid deal of the day' on last Friday. This included only 4 plugins.

Well, there are another 30 (!!) plugins that I did not buy, that show up in the Browser, cluttering it up.I know this is a marketing ploy but I really do not want to see these.

My first inclination is to find the dll's and just delete them. Or should I exclude them from the VST Scan?

I thought it best to ask here first....

Either way should work fine. Rather than delete files right away, I usually move them (or zip them up) just in case.

I would zip them up and then delete the un compressed ones.
sonar wont see a zip file, only the dll files.

That's why I never install their custom shop software.

Sounds like a plan! Where would one typically store this zip file? I'm guessing the same place where the active dll's are located. As Chuck says, Sonar will not see them.

My first experience with 'custom shop' stuff. Have other IK items and don't recall all these extra promo files.
Another company (don't recall offhand) did the same thing (putting all their products) when I just got one item.
I'm going to track them down and zip those un-usable (w/o paying $) as above.

Thanks All

Zip files are skipped by the VST scanner. I would leave the zip where the files are installed in case they need to be restored otherwise you will need to remember where the zip is located and where the files need to be restored, should the need arise.

You may want to consider leaving them as they are and just "excluding" them in the plug-in manager.  That way they are in place in case some other IK module wants to load them, but they don't show up in your menus.

Delete the dlls. I posted a rant about this. If you open one of those by accident you get that annoying hiss.
