  • Vocalists... Have you had your wisdom teeth taken out? Did it affect the way you sing?

So although they aren't bothering me in any way the dentist wants to yank them. I'm hesitant because I'm not sure if it will effect my enunciation after. I sing stuff that requires a lot of enunciation at hi speeds. Any tales to share? Hope you're all having an awesome day.

Mooch sez I'm not a singer so I'm not allowed to answer this question.

HTH.

Heh... well considering the tracks I sent you last time I'm sure you may be questioning why I'm calling myself a "vocalist". I been gettin' the pipes moving again since then though. It was a helpful kick in the arse. Wait... are we allowed to say "arse" on here? ;-p

I have had 2 of my wisdom teeth removed, but not the other 2.  however, they were removed years ago when I wasn't singing (I didn't sing except in the shower for many years between age 18 and 35).  so I have no comparison of before and after because I don't remember.

but I have a feeling it will be awkward at first but that you will get used to it and adjust.  probably won't take that long to adjust.  month?  depends on the person I'm sure.

Hiya, Beagle. I'm thinking I'd better leave these buggers in until I get the bulk of any vocal tracks I've been meaning to get on "tape" recorded. It would suck to have to relearn everything and really they don't bother me anymore. I've probably got a dozen hours of stuff I want to get down now that I actually have the means to. Cheers.

Got all 4 done the same day against the oral surgeons advice. Tough couple of days, but at the time I wanted it over all at once. I think it depends on the individual's mouth, tongue, throat shape and the technique and talent involved. I think it helped me personally, especially in performing live. I was able to down a beer between songs much easier without those big choppers blocking the flow.

Ha! That elicited the rare "in real life" Beepster giggle. I hadn't considered the ease of beer intake factor. You have given me much to think about. ;-)

Leave it to Randy to put a practical spin on it.

I have different dentures to cope with a wide range of tones to suit various genres.

They ensure I'm equally bad in all of them.

I do all genres badly with my natural teef (or what's left of them)
