and things and more things. clever things. essential things. as a (check no-one is looking, whisper it)sonar 8.5pe user....do i need this - i've seen bristol jonesy and others poo-poo then extol x1, and 2 cycles behind is about as much as i want to get...from a cost as much as anything POV. quite happy with S8.5. steve? james? [pretend firefox can do very small] Ed?

I'm with you on the lagging behind on the cost POV.

I may indeed make the jump here the take and automation lanes may just be enough to prompt the jump if only because layers have never worked properly for me, and of course the messy Expanded bolt-on has been swallowed up which was inevitable and welcome.

There's normally a small grace period between release and still being able to get it via the 'buy it now and get the upgrade free' deal to check out the hysteria on release to see whether it is messed up as X1 was.

So I'm waiting and watching and liking the fact that it seems more about refinement rather than radical reform.

I also noticed one of the X1 devout was even saying X2 looks like what X1 should have been...  If it wasn't so funny it would all be very, very sad.

Quality of fit and finish is the only breakthrough Sonar novelty I'd REALLY like to see this time around.

From the beginning, X1 (even before X1a) was stable for me. X1a fixed a baaaaad audiosnap failure (but I had Melodyne to use so no real biggie). So, I've had no complaints about X1 (no more so than 7, 8.0 or 8.5.3). My nits are minimal. Three simple things would make me happier.

1. Full Colour Customzation of every widget, control etc.
2. Nested Folders
3. True audio track solo of a multi out drum folder when a drum map is deployed

FWIW, everything in X2 will be welcomed by me and I suspect/hope that it will be more stable than X1 for all the others who had problems. But if it was hardware/settings/stars aligned for some, X2 may not fix that.

Wait a minute you had X1 from the start.

You had no issues?  How can that be?

There have been 4 major updates fixing a whole rake of issues, and there are still issues dating back from several versions, you mean that it's been fine all along and they went to the trouble of releasing updates for nothing?  Why didn't you tell them?

Are you still in mono?

You can come out of denial now, X1 is dead.  Long live X2.

ALL THE THINGS!

Things are cool, especially when you have all of them.

I saw a sign that said "The best things in life aren't things."

I can only assume that the person who wrote it didn't have any.

I'm not upgrading/have not been upgrading most of my software..  I am using old versions of NI, IK, PSpaudioware, Ableton, Reaper, Reason, Recycle, Nomadfactory...

However, I feel like I have good reasoning to, "keep up to date," Sonar, my other Cakewalk tools, and Renoise.  Therefore, I will be buying an upgrade to certain products.  Also.. Cakewalk hasn't seemed to fail me yet..  Rapture could be in better shape right now.. pfft. least of my problems.  what an easy life it would be if Rapture's bugs, actually qualified as a problem..

that said, "don't feel like you need to upgrade, just cause it seems like all the forum people are doing so."  Like I said above...  The vast majority of the software licenses I've got..  no plans to upgrade...

If it comes with a Fez I'll eat my hat.
