Hi guys,
this is my first post and I'm completely a noob on Sonar X3.
I'm trying to use X3 to compose some scores in front of some videoclip.
The strange thing that i'm facing is that when I try to import the video I'm not able to move the start point: it is disabled! I use the VideoEngine=0 option but sonar keep crashing.
Do you get some ideas?

thanks
Claudio

sonar is not a video editor.

i use the video in sonar as a guide to create parts, but do all video-related things in a video editor like sony vegas. in other words, export finished pieces (tracks, clips...) from sonar, import the audio and put the whole thing together in vegas, then render your final video file (mp4, mxf...) from vegas.

I agree it's super annoying, I also wish you could at least change where in your project the video starts playing. I don't see how you could conceivably call this a "video editing" feature.

Yes this does seem to be an issue.  I believe you can move your start point,  just not forward.  I have started later in picture,  but that was many years and Sonar versions ago, so I'm not so sure.

I always prepare my video in a video editing app (a Sony Vegas lite) as dlion16 above recommends.  I always have 10 seconds prior to where music starts just for safety sake.  I have been doing that for years and I have no complaints about how anything works as far as Sonar is concerned.  I just load and go compose.

ok, get it,
but why there is a start point feature moving and it is not working. I know that sonar is not a video editor, but in ableton you can move the video. sonar promise that but it doesn't work. it works just using VideoEngine=0 but once it plays on time sonar crashes. I call it a bug!

however thanks for your answers
