I'm just not sure why it isn't realistic. The last ten years that I was working full time I never had a chance to take a full week off (and I averaged 56.3 hours per week over that ten year span). The environment was set up so that if you would probably be replaced if you didn't work all that extra time.
That said, I doubt anyone would care if they only took one or two vacations over a term, but the last several have really overdone it. I'd much rather hear if there used to be life on Mars. Our leadership (on both sides) act more like (bad) kings than what they're supposed to.
I guess I look at it like this. They take a job with immense pressure and like I said, it's 24/7. They are required to move the family into a city they've never lived before, and the family is required to have around the clock security everywhere they go. The only privacy is in the upstairs. The worlds media watches every public move you and your family make and every word you and they say. How you dress, what you eat, where you go, all of it. There isn't a brighter spot light or finer microscope to live under. They also get paid less than they were making when they took the job. All of them. I don't think any of them really get it until they get in there what's involved. I'm speaking of only of Presidents here.
Are they perfect? No. None of us are.
