I know this is going to sound a little daft but try this.

Find your Aud.ini in your profile C:\Users\<Your Name>\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\aud.ini and delete it.

This will force SONAr to re-profile your audio hardware and create a fresh AUD.INI.

If that fails reinstall S-Plat something may have not quite gone right in the install

Thanks. I'll try running as admin first and wait for a response from Cakewalk support, then a new install.

I deleted the aud.ini file, opened CW and suddenly, Dimension Pro works! However, none of the other ones work. Maybe something in the aud.ini file can be changed?

Hi - I will do some searching/testing, and see if I can help - would you please look at the info at the bottom of some of the forum member's posts?  You will see many of us put a bit of a summary of our system specs into the Forum Profile's Signature area, and then make sure we click the 'Always attach signature to posts' check box.

I am wondering what sort of audio interface you are using, or are you using either your computer's on-board sound chip or perhaps ASIO4ALL?

Can you please list the Sonar Preferences audio interface Driver Mode you are using?  It it ASIO?  WDM?

Thanks,

I'll check back in a bit - and as I indicated above, I will also dig through some other earlier threads to see if something concrete comes to mind.

MIDI Master?  MIDI Clock?

I've added some info to my posts. Not sure about MIDI Master or Clock. Will check. I'm getting closer to deciding to do a complete re-install of everything. I installed every synth on the available list - maybe too much?

Is it maybe a MIDI echo setting that is giving you a loopback of MIDI messages that is freezing things?

The only echo setting there is must be on for me to hear what I play.

Regarding my synth freezing up, it is now OK. A clue was someone mentioning midi echoing, so I started with the midi keyboard. I found a quirp in the keyboard, something called ZONE. It is a Sampson Graphite (as cheap as I could buy). I was simply pressing buttons and I pressed the Zone button and all started working. It appears that I must put the keyboard in Zone mode for it to work right. Zone merely divides the keyboard into zones with their own parameters that can be programmed. I believe this takes the heat off Cakewalk. Thanks all for trying to help me.

FYI, my synth freezing after about 1/2 second of key down was due to after-touch from my keyboard. Apparently, the after touch signal messed things up. I turned it off, at least set it to 0, and everything now works. I have no more excuses for not moving ahead with my projects!
