It certainly wasn't how Federer envinsioned it.

Commentator 1: "Federer is seething at the umpire saying the line judges are making too many mistakes".

Commentator 2: "The umpire should level the same criticism at him!"...

See?  There are some good commentators...

Federer has been having a lot of bad days since he turned 28..   Sometimes..  with these athletes..  just a couple of years makes a huge difference in the body and sorts..   these guys play at such high levels of physicality..

That does not take away from the accomplishment of Murray.  He played hard.  He won fare and square.  Is totally deserving of the championship.

:-(  I really wanted to see Federer win..

Federer is better than Murray as demonstrated in the Wimbledon final. The Fed was tired from a gruelling match prior to the Murray final in the Games. But I am also glad for Murray as he has been a stayer and trying very hard for years and I think this was an appropriate time for him to win. But overall Roger is the better player IMO. Do not be in a hurry to put Fed down. He has won more grand slams than most players and is considered to be one of the best players of all time.

"Won more grand slams than most?"  He has three more than Pete Sampras in second place (who has 14!).

More like won more grand slams than any other male.

I didn't want to come off as putting Federer down..  I agree he was tired..  but at age 24..  he would have done it..  even Nadal is changing at what?  27?  or is Nadal 28 now..

Actually, I'm way surprised Djokovic did not metal....

Actually, except for the, "men's hundred meter," the results of this Olympics has been full of interesting plot twists and surprises..

Daryl sezzit azzit is!

Nobody here was putting Federer down it was low to even suggest that Jeff.

The Olympic competition schedule was more gruelling for both players than Wimbledon, as a result the younger man had more left in the tank for the final.

Not only that Murray was far more aggresive in his shot choices this time around and Federer simply could not counter.

Last but not least, the roof was off Centre court this time, having it closed turned Wimbledon into an indoor final which of course favoured Federer.
