Now, if sonar had such a "MIDI send" , then with that would could use a MIDI track's MIDI send to send a duplicate MIDI signal to the Guitar rig (or any other plugin that has a MIDI in configured).  MIDI sends have been feature requested, but I am not sure if it's being considered.

When patch points were introduced for audio tracks there was a lot of discussion about how great it would be to have this functionality available for midi as well  Someone from Cakewalk commented that we should 'watch this space',  so hopefully it is on the to do  list somewhere. Fingers crossed,  as it would indeed be a great feature.

I love the MIDI send idea.  Especially if we can decide, based on the controller, whether a MIDI event is sent, kept, or duplicated.  Also, it would be useful if we could change the channel, or even the CC#.

In the meantime, I had another idea:

I could turn MIDI echo on for the second (effect) track, but only record to the first (instrument) track.  During playback, since MIDI echo is on for the second track, the notes would control the instrument, and the pedal would control the effect.  That's good.  However, when it comes time to play back the recorded MIDI, the echoing wouldn't happen, so the pedal events would go only to the instrument, which is bad.

So there is a second step: after recording, move the pedal events from the instrument track to the effect track.  That way, the pedal events would control the effect and not the instrument.  So, what is the easiest way to move certain controller events from track A to track B?  Would a CAL script help?

Or you could use the filter in event view.

It sounds to me like you have echo/IM set to automatically follow track selection.  I can't find the option or remember what the heck it's called ...

What happens if you manually set echo/IM on both MIDI tracks?

See "The Input Echo Button" at https://www.cakewalk.com/...ayback.35.html#1067568

The echoing isn't really the issue at this point.  It's what happens after the data is recorded.

Right now since both tracks are armed and listening to the same set of MIDI channels (in this case, all of them), both the notes and the pedal events are being saved on both tracks.  This is a pain to clean up.

What I'd like instead is for the notes to end up saved to the instrument track, and the pedal events saved to the effect track.

If I record the notes and pedal events to the instrument track, with the effect track's MIDI echo set to On, then I can record everything to one track (the instrument track).  However, after recording, there is another step I need to do, and that is to move the pedal events from the instrument track to the effect track.

Is there a quick method for doing that?  (Move events belonging to a particular CC from Track A to Track B?)

Have you considered using the Select by Filter and then copy and paste to destination track?  Note: with the Select by Filter, once you have made all the selections you need, you can save that configuration as a preset.
