  • Issue: Recording into Sonar from Reason, disappearing

I'm trying to sample a few sounds from Reason so I can remove it from the equation on a project. The problem is when I record the audio from it, as soon as I stop the recording, the audio I've recorded disappears.

Steps:
I Rewire Reason into Sonar as normal and load the Reason save file.
Create an audio track and set the input to the Reason track.
Arm the audio track and start recording.
While I'm recording, the waveform shows up on the new audio track while I'm playing in Reason. As soon as I stop recording, the waveform just disappears and the audio track remains empty. Not sure if there is a setting or something I'm missing here but would appreciate some help with this.

Hi

1) in side platinum add reason as rewire > make sure tick midi source and all synths out stereo
2)inside platinum double click the reason midi track icon to open reason
3)load a saved reason project
4)inside reason > rack > hit alt key >on the sampling input rack > check which ( to audio output ) should be 1 > which is Mix L and Mix R inside sonar.
5(((( inside platinum > go to the reason tracks)))) and check inputs to make sure its MIX L and MIX R ( should be the first track up top> then arm that track > hit record inside platinum

this works perfectly with reason 8.3.2 d7 build and latest update platinum

good luck

I also noticed when I set my audio track to Reason for the input, it changes to an instrument track. There doesn't seem to be a way around this that I'm seeing.

You need to start again .

Make sure you follow my steps exactly one step at a time , it works perfectly

It sounds to me that your trying to record from the Reason / midi track inside platinum > you need to record from the audio track , just close it stat again follow my steps to the tea and it will work.

Everything you stated is what it's set at. The track I'm recording audio to is also set to Reasons Mix Stereo Out L/R. I'm seeing the Waveform being created as I record each hit just as I would if I was recording from a microphone. It's just disappearing after

Just another note also .

A way to quickly troubleshoot your problem would be do steps 1 - 4

Then inside reason draw some midi notes > Making sure to select loop on those midi notes > then hit play .

Now inside sonar check all of the reason tracks audio meters and see if there is any activity on any of them > if so then arm that track and hit record !

I just tried it for you myself and it defiantly records and the waveform stays on track , just close your project and open a new sonar project with just reason and try the steps again , this will also help troubleshoot.

As the waveform is only an independently generated video of the audio track, the disappearing of the waveform image doesn't always mean the audio has disappeared anywhere. Have you actually checked that there is no audio file created in your project audio folder? Have you tried playing back the seemingly empty audio track?
In case the issue is only visual, emptying the Picture cache folder or regenerating waveform should be the cure.
