Does anyone really think things like facts matter anymore.... sheesh. We live in the era of demagoguery... and Great Arses.

Truly I love Britain... all of it and all the Brits I've ever met or talked to. One of my dreams is to rent a cottage in Ireland or England.. (or Wales) for at least 6 months and spend some time touring around there.

Maybe there would be more excitement if THIS was an Olympic event?

The term 'Great' just means 'largest' - it being the largest island in the British Isles.

As far as I'm aware, the 'Great' in Great Britain refers to the 'largest' island of the British Isles.

OK, so I have been wondering. Lets assume that I am a young man visiting London and I meet a pretty girl and we get along. One day she asks me if her butt looks big in her jeans and I reply... "you have a great arse". Did I just blow it? Did I answer, "yes, you have a large butt"?

Inquiring minds wnat to know.

A swimming "expert" on Sky sports yesterday delivered the insightful............

" if she had only managed to increase her stroke rate ( ie swim faster ) she could possibly have won silver or gold "
