Our local BBC Radio station featured this actual piece of Olympics reporting earlier...

"... and Mark Foster has suggested that Rebecca Adlington winning her medal should prove to be a morale booster for the Team GB swimming team"

Huh

Team GB has a football team (which has more than one team), a swimming team, an athletics team, a gymnastics team, etc, etc, etc.

Strummy try harder...

Go Team GB's teams.

The "Team USA" chatter here doesn't bother me.  We've been hearing that for decades.  My personal gripe is that (in the US) the networks only televise sports where they think Team USA might have a shot.  I suppose all nations do that.  I feel sorry for the nations where their athletes don't medal very often.  Their coverage must be pretty lame.

"Today, from 6:00 AM until 11:00 PM, we'll be live at the Medal Round of Synchronized Planking!"

On second thought, I think I know why they don't show that one here.

The less fortunate countries that don't win medals often are athletes that are generally just happy to be representing their country for national pride.

Oh how Great Britain is: One day we will conquer the world again.

We will be winning everything, killing everyone and making sure that people say that Britain...is great again.

Lets put the great in great Britain.

Anytime I hear someone using the word "Great" in reference to themselves, I think of a scene from the Sci Fi TV show Firefly.  It's the one where Captain Malcom Renolds has just won a sword duel against a superior swordsman.  I love how he says that a Great man would allow his opponent to live.  He then jabs him in the chest and says, I'm Pretty Good.  He jabs him again and says, I'm Okay.

This complete and total fred derailment has been brought to you by the letter Blue and the Non Sequiter Inquisition.
