what if I want to read the staff view and have the "now time" vertical marker remain in the center at all times while the data smoothly scrolls by?

Is this possible in any view in Sonar?
In any DAW?
Finale?  cause I just got that.

nope.  it either scrolls across and moves to the beginning of the next "section" according to your zoom or it's OFF.  I haven't seen what you're describing in any DAW, but I haven't used a lot of different ones.

I was wondering the same thing, and haven't been able to find an answer for Sonar Platinum.

I'd like to be viewing the piano roll, have the Now time stay in the center of the screen with the data scrolling smoothly by as the song plays.

Is there a way to do it in Sonar Platinum? I thought maybe this was an added feature since the last time this question was asked, but I don't find any info or settings for it.

AFAIK it's not possible in SONAR to have screens scroll past a stationary now time. I do seem to recall some MIDI sequencers "back in the day" that could do this.

It's possible in the main track view in Reaper: select Options > Automatically scroll view during playback and Options > Continuous Scrolling. I don't think it has a Staff View however.

Samplitude can. So can Cubase and good old Soundforge. I don't know about them doing in their version of Staff view though. Soundforge doesn't have a staff view.

you could probably set up a cal script to center the now time in the middle of the screen but only after playback has stopped. still a useful feature.
