OK, sorry for swearing in the curch - I'm on my second day completely without coffee and I NEVER thought it would be this painful! My head hurts, I'm drowsy and relatively cranky as well...

That stuff is POTENT!!

Why? I recently heard that coffee is good for the heart. But I can't remember for the life of me, where I read this? Imagine, a nice moka cream with a little froth on top, mmmmmmm mmmmmm mmmmmm. Heck, imma going to make myself another one. Cheers!

yeah... kicking the caffine habit can be tough for a few days, depending on how much you were using previously.

drink water, use tylenol, tough it out.

Bapu - sure is! And I'm drinking it while listening to your latest Song forum offering!

Alegria - I'm sure you're right but I drink WAAAAY too much coffee. I don't care how good it is for my heart when it makes me feel all weird otherwise and useless without any. I'm going cold turkey and will try to build up the habbit again in a more moderate way. Anyways, enjoy your Moka!

Herb - water and chewing gum seems to do the trick. I've decided to have a coke for dinner. Caffeine - powerful stuff!!

I quit coffee "cold turkey" about 14 or 15 years ago. I was already very sick so I probably did not notice the withdrawal.

Hi,

I have not had regular coffee for 30 years ... and since the doctor put me on blood pressure medication (he's trying to give me diabetes, gangrene and then cancer ... in that order!!!!!) ... I have had a sip or two.

Mostly I drink half a cup, if that, of DECAF ... or Unleaded as I call it!

Lately, I have been taking those low fat expresso mixes and adding a shot or two of coffee to them, so the coffee intake is minor, but you can feel the rush if needed. Generally, with my bad eye sight and being in front of the computer at work, there are days that I can not continue with bad headaches ... time to go home and take a siesta to kill the headache.

But at 61, I'm finding that a bit of coffee is not hurting anything and is helping the day move along ... although I do not recommend using "coffee" as a replacement for your "energy", which I do not do for the most part, but it does help on the last hour of work each day, when things get hard for me visually, and it is foggy and annoying.

Being without coffee is a **** and usually I just get really grumpy and get head aches and go hunting for it with a menace. But cold turkey willingly, now that's a hangover and the trip at the same time.

I wonder if I'll sleep better tonight

For the past 7 years, I've called coffe "fuel". I drink WAY to much of it and sometimes it's been the only thing keeping my engine running. Since quiting smoking I've wanted to quit everything. After coffee I'll quit milk. I don't think coffee will kill you but I worry about stomach problems for excessive intake of coffee. And seriously, it doesn't taste good enough to risk an ulcer.

BTW, this is my second attempt to go cold turkey. Last time I lasted two days before I almost stabbed someone - fingers crossed this time
