No "C" or "K" sound?  That's weird!

Many years ago, I worked at a gas station downtown in Chicago.  Cab drivers would come in frequently to gas up, stretch, and air out the back of their cabs.  I discovered that some of these people spoke words I thought I knew but in an entirely different manner.

"Eh Eh Eye AH Wuh Reh rer!"  (Give me $5 worth of Regular!")

"En Uh Eyetz!  En Uh Eyetz!"  (Winston Lights!  Winston Lights!)

"Ee Yuh!"  (Fill 'er Up!)

"Uz Aheeun O Ow Gih Uh Zayuh?"  (Does Anyone Know How to Get to Zion?)

"Mah Azz iz Ohn Fahyer!"  (Are your seat beads comfortable?  Mine appear to be failing in this area.)

and air out the back of their cabs.

That was just a pretext for airing out the fronts of their cabs.

That must be some sort of Cabonics dialect?

Now the British cabbies who speak cockney shouldn't mix with the Chicago cabbies.....

or should they?

Chicago cabbies don't mix.  Their cabs aren't equipped with reference monitors.

Nor do they have air freshners.
