 We were looking at wordpress as well (yeah it did seem to be a bit of a learning curve, but in the long run it should be useful). One thing she was interested in is having her recipe's copywritten. I'm sure they have this service available.  Thanks for all the excellent tips.

She can use Creative Commons licensing, to copyright her posts.  Google it--- I've seen it streamlined into several publishing products, so that you can control how your content is used.  I'd be shocked if there wasn't a Wordpress widget for it, or that used it.

For a serious blogging tool, I really like the wordpress.com stuff. It also do domain hosting so if you get serious with the bloging and want a domain for it you can easily - and nicely priced - do it right in the service. And it has excellent tools for spelling and formatting.
