Waldorf Nave crashing Sonar Platinum the moment I attempt to insert it. This is probably the fastest crash I've experienced in the last few years. I did not even have a chance to see it opened- asking to hear it would be too much. I have been reading other posts on KVR audio about it crashing and thought- it would not happen to me because Sonar is very stable lately, but I think Waldorf sold us the iPad version for PCs! Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

A potential work around may be to use NI's Komplete Kontrol software. The synth is NKS comparable so one would hope its been well tested.

Komplete Kontrol is inserted in Sonar as a VSTi and Nave loaded in KK. If Sonar is not accessing Nave DLL directly things may work.

Thank you for this idea. I was about to ask, how do you know that I have Kontrol? Luckily I do have Kontrol and Nave does work when Kontrol loaded in Sonar and Nave is loaded in to Kontrol. But the plugin should be able to work without Kontrol. The fact that it works in Kontrol tells me that plugin itself is not the problem- it is Sonar that can not load it. Will Cakewalk investigate what is the reason for it? Not everybody can use Kontrol with it. Kontrol does not work without Kontrol keyboard- it does not accept generic controllers- only works with NI keyboard, so if Nave is not working without it in Sonar, Waldorf and Cakewalk need to fix it. Thank you.

You need to submit a problem report if you want Cakewalk to act.

KK does work with generic keyboards, you don't get all the features of course. I use a NI S61 and a AKAl Lpk25 and a APRO 800.

Probably worth reporting to Waldorf too.

How is KK working with generic keyboards? When I am in settings, there only option for Kontrol keyboards and if it not connected- all options grayed out. It does not see my Motif, iRig or Novation. Do you have AKAl Lpk25 and a APRO 800 listed in KK's options along with Kontrol keyboards? I had to buy Kontrol keyboard because it was the only option listed and it was grayed out.

I just fired up the DAW to check I am not imagining things. I switched on the A-PRO and the LPK-25 but left the S61 off.
 
In stand alone Komplete Kontrol responds to both keyboards. You have to make sure the synthe in KK is on the same channel as the keyboards, or set to Omni.
 
In Sonar the synth in KK responds to both keyboards. The arpeggiator and chord functions work.
 
You do not have to select the keyboard in the Komplete Kontrol controller menu. KK just responds to MIDI like any other soft synth and passes it on to what ever is loaded. What you don't get is the mapping of the encoders and the browser functions etc.
 
 

One thing I forgot, in KK standalone you have to set up the MIDI devices in the "Audio and MIDI" setting dialogue found in the edit menu. In a DAW this is not required.
