Does anyone know if it's possible to run SONAR TH3 as a standalone application - that is to say without having to open it as a VST inside SONAR?

I'm pretty certain I used to be able to do this with TH2, although I did upgrade to the full version if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance of any help and advice

I have wondered this myself.  It must be possible as the manual for TH3 does make a couple of references to "standalone mode".  The manual you get with TH3 Cakewalk edition appears to be the same one you get with the full version of TH3.

My guess is the standalone mode is only available with the full version.  If you have the full version, the installation may have populated the start menu with the required shortcuts that points to the standalone mode.  If you have the full version of TH3, then I would hunt the start menu for the required shortcuts.  You may also want to do a full file search for something like TH3*.exe.  Maybe it would be under c:\program files\...

As I only have TH3 Cakewalk edition, it looks like I do not have the executable for the standalone mode.  I can't find any shortcuts, nor can I find an exe file on my system for TH3 standalone.

Thanks for your input Paul.

I have the full version of TH2, but only the SONAR version of TH3.

I expected to see a launch icon in the Overloud folder in the Start menu, but only TH2 is in there:

Correct, standalone is available only in a full version, same TH2 and TH3.

Check out SAVIHost or VSTHost, or an app like them. SAVIHost comes as an EXE that you put in the same folder as the VST instrument that you want to play standalone, and rename it to the same as the DLL, and then run the EXE. VSTHost is a more complex version.
