I have a Korg Nanopad2, Ezdrummer2 and Splat.

I want to record bd and snare on first take, hihat on second, cymbals on third and toms on fourth. I already have figured out how to use multichannel on Ezd. But the next one is still a mystery:

How can i setup Sonar and Ezd so that i can record different takes on different tracks AND get all the mic bleeds to the Ezd overheads AND use the ambience, compressor and reverb in Ezd for each different drum track? Is it even possible?

I do not own EZD, but in other programs the mic bleeds are part of the internal audio processing of the VST. In that situation, your recording setup should be fine, so long as the MIDI tracks created are all feeding the same instance of EZD. On playback of those MIDI tracks, that single instance should be able to tailor the bleeds for you (i.e., use the internal EZD processing).

Any specific nuances to EZD would need more input from others.

mic bleed will be an after fact once all your drums are complete.
you will also benefit greatly from learning how to take advantage of the piano roll view.
you wont need to tap out beats anymore unless its an odd timing / drifting tempo, but even then, melodyne solves that problem.
PRV - its the best thing since sliced bread bro.

If you want the tracks separately, you can route as many midi tracks as you want to the synth/vsti(set the output to the synth), else you could just use track lanes or layer the midi to get it all in one track (bounce to see all the notes if the clips are layered in track view).

Good video. Short and to-the-point. Screeen-to-brain. Cool

Jeez. As supposed, i was just an ordinary idiot. Just remember never to arm anything else than the main midi track and all goes well... Everything ok now, sorry for a useless thread.

no, not useless at all man.
but serious, learn the benefits of the Piano roll. you wont regret it.
at first it may seem difficult, but once you nab the hang of it, its EZ.
