i need to use sonar in life purpose to play many prepared sounds on a stage
i used autohotkey program to switch between the many midi tracks i used.
that program depends on the X , Y positions of the tracks i select and recording of the mouse moves.
the Disadvantage of that is u should keep your display resolution settings and the positions of your windows and buttons etc.
is there any other method or program to make that without the X ,Y positions
i need to make a hotkey to activate a specified midi track monitor button.(or may be more than one track)
so a can toggle between instruments by just a keyboard press.
any help??
thx

Such operations are possible with Control Surface in combination with my plug-in (see signature). You will need any MIDI controller with buttons (f.e. Korg Nonopad) in case you have no buttons on your MIDI keyboard or Joystick (Gamepad).

But probably better way is switch MIDI channels on your keyboard, not activate tracks. If you can not switch MIDI channels quickly or that has side effects for your keyboard, it is possible to switch by other means (another plug-in from me).

is there any way to make shortcuts on the computer keyboard instead of using the midi controller buttons?

From what I know, there is no such build-in feature. Sonar allows predefined set of command only to be bound to keys, either PC or MIDI.

If you know a program which can convert keyboard shortcuts to MIDI or OSC messages, that can be used.

It may not be an option for you and it would probably cost some money, but Ableton Live is specifically made for live use and does stuff like this natively. Even a Lite version might be enough depending on your needs.

i think Autohotkey is the most solution for me , i can make it,s script first adjusts screen resolution

Reading Ableton forum about workarounds people used there for shortcuts, I am not sure it has it natively. All solutions I have seen there are Keyboard->MIDI->DAW based. In addition, Ableton definitively has no AZ Controller or anything even close to it, there are several specialized "scripts" for particular purpose

I think that is rather risky solution for stage... MIDI controllers have big pads, they can give a feedback (which instrument is really selected), no dependency on resolution or occasional shifts/changes on screen.

Anything you can automate via midi in Ableton you can also automate via the keyboard. Add the Max4Live and I don't think there is much you couldn't do. Though whether you know how is a different matter as Ableton isn't really like most DAWs.

With the last I completely agree, I have only Lite installed and I am quite slowly moving throw the documentation. But "the difference" is everywhere right from the beginning.
About the rest I simply do not know. In my case of one instrument/computer pair per room (I simply do not have place to put everything together) there strict license rules are not practical.

HI:)

For PC-Keyboard --> MIDI

I found:

Bome Software
altKeyboards --> MIDI Integrator

Don't know if this works, but I'll try it out soon, would like to give out some controllers from PC-Keyboard...

Bassman.
