Beat the system by having all your teeth taken out before the price goes up.

Bummer

You may as well mortgage a house than pay for a dentist. And there is a greed factor permeating all the healthcare disciplines. Not so much the individual provider, but the powers that control the provider and want to bleed you.

Two years retired, and social security plus a supplement over here in the USA is way better than anything I had when working, with the exception of drugs and a dentist.

Medicare denies a dentist because they define dental work as cosmetic and not needed. Right...

If your tooth were rotting away from some cancer and needed an oral surgeon, medicare would pick it up. Your tooth rotting away and systemic poisoning you and has to be pulled, it's just cosmetic.

One tip is that most dental schools have great deals on any kind of treatment needed. They use you as a guinea pig for the advanced students to practice on under the watchful eye of a senior dentist.

Pennies on the dollar and pervasive hi satisfaction ratings. Any kind of generic dental insurance is crap if you really need help.

Dentists need the money - those lions aren't going to shoot themselves.

I was without dental insurance for a year, during which time I paid cash for cleanings. 180 bucks a pop. Just imagine if everyone who made their living by cleaning things were comparably compensated.

I can't imagine how much I'd need to be paid before I'd sign up to clean baby butts at the day care center.

That's what happened to me before I went over 65 and Medicare. Tricare stated it wasn't a medical problem but a dental problem. Delta Dental said not a dental problem it's a medical problem. Years of fighting the system
It slowly emptied, along with all the other things insurance didn't cover when I needed it, all my bank account and eventually and literally I wound up

in a van down by the river

That's one of the reasons why I cancelled my private medical/dental insurance, the other being the constant letters from Inland Revenue telling me I owed them tax for the "perk" of having my company pay for medical insurance. The small print containing all the things it didn't cover made it a total waste of money.

These guys have NEVER let me down:
