Both Virtual Analog 1.1 and VA-2 cause Platinum to crash (not responding). These worked fine in all previous versions of Sonar.

Don't have VA-1, but have not had problems with VA-2. Make to use the 64bit version of VA-2 in 64bit SONAR. Not sure if VA-1 has a 64bit version. If it does use it.

I just installed the latest build (2.04) that includes the 64 bit version. The plugin manager will not recognize the 64 bit VA-2, only the 32 bit. I have checked the paths and even copied the dll into the cakewalk 64 vst directory. No luck. The VA-2 registers and runs in stand alone just fine. Not sure where to go next. Thanks.

try running a VST reset, these instructions are for X3 but also work for the new SONAR http://www.cakewalk.com/S...ommended-for-Upgraders

I just ran the reset. The VA-2 32 bit shows up, but still no 64 bit version. I double checked the paths. The stand alone is fully authorized and works fine.
BTW the link you sent for VST reset is not working. I was able to search and find the instructions.
Thanks so much for your quick responses. I do IT consulting, so I'm not afraid to dig deeper, check .ini files, etc. Just need some more suggestions. This is one of my go to synths.

Are you sure you are running the 64bit version of SONAR, check the about screen? When I add back the 32bit AAS path to my VST scan path, only the 64bit plug-ins show up (like they always have in 64bit SONAR). If the paths are correct in Preferences, the 64bit version is installed and the dll is in the scan path, the plug-ins should show up. The reset should have cleared any VST exclusions or inventory build problems. Try taking the 32bit plug-ins out of the VST scan path. The only other thing I could think of is a missing MS lib but I have never read about this ever being an issue with AAS synths.

FWIW, the link in #4 works OK in Firefox 37 for me.

I use VA-2 64-bit in just about every project and also haven't had any problems in Platinum.

I know this is going to sound a bit like "is it plugged in?" but I'd suggest you double-check your VA-2 installation:
- launch the standalone VA-2 and verify that it is the 64-bit version by clicking on the AAS logo
- then check the shortcut properties and make sure the Start In folder is in the Sonar VST scan path list

This is assuming that the problem you're trying to solve is recognizing the 64-bit plugin, not the crash issue. If you're still having crashes, I think you need to rule out that they're not caused by something else. Maybe create a project with nothing else in it?

I really enjoy using VA-2 so I hope you get this sorted soon.

I finally got it working. Deeper analysis showed other iterations of VA-2 in multiple directories. Doing an uninstall and manually deleting all AAS folders and dll's made it possible to do completely fresh install. Good to go now! Thanks again for all of the helpful suggestions.
