  • HELP! Can't seem to repair botched Ultra Analog VA-2 installation!

Hey,
I messed up my Ultra Analog install by deleting some dll's that I thought were duplicates. Duhh... Yeah, I know, I know... dumb move on my part.
Still, I need to get it back up and running.
Also, during the first uninstall (after deleting some files) the uninstall wizard thing hung during the process and I had to close it with the Task Manager. I then searched the system files for everything I could find with the name Ultra Analog and deleted it.
Since then, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling over and over. It still crashed Sonar Platinum. Not the entire PC, just Sonar. It runs fine standalone.
Another funny thing is that I bought both full versions of Ultra Analog VA-2 and Lounge Lizard EP-4 at the same time. And after I screwed up VA-2 I thought I'd better make sure Lounge Lizard's install was okay too, since they share the same folders. So I uninstalled Lounge Lizard as well.
Now, Lounge Lizard runs loads and runs fine in Sonar Platinum, but even with default locations, VA-2 still crashes Sonar when I try to load it.
Please forgive the long story. I just want to include all the info I can.
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Peace.

On my system their files are in the following folders

C:\Program Files (x86)\Applied Acoustics Systems\Ultra Analog VA-2 - this is where VA-2 gets the GUI from

%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Applied Acoustics Systems\Ultra Analog VA-2 (This contains the patches you may want to back these up if you have made your own presets)

C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 - the VST3 version will be in here

D:\Data files\vstplugins\Applied Acoustic Systems - the VST2 file will be in here (This location on yours will be different)

After uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling, make sure you do a reset and scan of the plugins.

It also may be worth making sure you're using The latest version of Ultra Synth VA-2 (which is 2.21)

When I do my installs of Applied Acoustics system products, I choose a dummy location for the 32bit version as I never use them.  I only ever use the 64bit versions and even then, the VST3 versions where possible.

My latest track made extensive use of Applied Acoustics system products. I have never had any of their products crash on me in any version of Sonar or Cakewalk by Bandlab.

Hope that helps

Wow, thank you, Promidi!
Even before trying, your suggestions sound super promising, as I didn't know about these locations.
I'll let you know if it works and post this as Solved!

Thanks again,

Hooray!
Thanks Promidi! It's working! I guess I missed some leftover files in some of those directories.
I used the multi installer thing from the AAS website and it all works now. The first time I used it, it didn't fix it. So it must have been some of those lingering files.
I also streamlined my VST path lists in Sonar. I checked and everything seems to working fine.

Thanks again!
