Oooo...  Nice lil' squealer there!

The first electric guitar I owned was a SAGA II ES-335 copy (bought for me by my mum). It's what I learned on. The hilarious part is I was mostly into metal but I knew jack about guitars then (I was like 13). We went to the music store and I told the guy what I was into and he handed me a bunch of the usual nonsense (Ibby's, Yammies, etc...). For some reason I just wanted to try out the SAGA because it look so wacky to me. The sound SMOKED all the other guitars I had tried with distortion and without so I decided on that one. The music store guy must have thought it was hilarious. I learned all sorts of thrash and metal stuff on that thing. Unfortunately when I got into a REAL metal band that played live at full volume the thing was completely useless due to all the feedback (but still sounded awesome when it wasn't squealing. Man I could really use that axe right now.

My tastes tend not to get too heavy, the most I go for is a heavy blues, so I think this will suit me well. I like jazz, funk and soul too. so it seems well suited to this too. It's nice not having to plug it in to learn too. With flute and sax there is no way I could play at this hours  (1 am here), but I could practice this with out disturbing the neighours. Though I've taken to taking the flute down to  the beach for late night playing and knowing the houses on the seafront are out of earshot

Oh yeah, man. They're way better for that kind of thing and that's more the stuff I'm doing these days myself but it did the trick for me way back then. It just sounded so good. I think having one as a studio axe would cover so many of my current needs. I was foolish to let it go.
