Hi , I've got Sonar (latest update) not responding on my computer , the blue busy circle is running , but no response , CPu about 18% Sonar for last 10 mins.
Is it ctrl alt del time?

Yes, SONAR is usually hosed if it hasn't recovered after that much time. You can click on the X button to close SONAR, and it will likely go whitescreen with or without the Crash Reporter popping up, and Windows will prompt to close it. Sometimes the SONARPLT process will still remain active in Task Manager and need to be killed.

I usually right click the sonar icon at the bottom of the screen and select close window...then sonar closes

I generally kill Sonar (and any other application that locks up) from the Windows Task Manager, along with any related processes.

That the window itself has disappeared doesn't mean the frozen application still isn't running and consuming resources. If it is, it usually won't be possible to re-launch the application either.

Sometimes using a console running as administrator to force-kill the application using its process ID does the trick if task manager fails to.

And if that doesn't work, reboot.

Thanks for the replies , I stopped sonar , but it would not restart , so I rebooted the PC, Sonar the couldn't see the Octacapture , so I tried different USB Ports etc Eventually I reinstalled the OC drivers (same version) and I'm back up and running again.
I think the cause may have been to do with the Korg tacktile , just before the crash I was having strange issues with the "echo" button on midi tracks not turning off and trying to assign the input to None auto selected Omni , result was when I played the next keyboard part the drums were also playing !??

Not sure what it's worth but I have found that when I use sonar which is every weekday , is that being aware if sonar is still processing your last command / mouse click , don't click anything else until that's complete , which is normally very quick , but my point is I get blue circles daily with my big project and as soon as the circle appears I don't click anything inside sonar or Windows and you will see 99% of the time sonar comes back , but if you click ANYTHING when that blue circle appears then the chances of a crash are going to be high .
The above works for me and my setup.

Usually when I have a crash in Sonar, it's because I gave Sonar Platinum a command and quickly attempted to do something else and it froze.    My Daw has 32 GB of RAM so I think Sonar doesn't respond quickly enough to the commands given to it.   I use a Mackie Control Unit so I have Function Select buttons  F1 - F7 assigned to things I do a lot in Sonar and perform very often.  I am quickly pressing these buttons to rapidly get things done, this is when Sonar Freezes on me the most.  
 
I love Sonar but the freezing is starting to get on my nerves, especially when I am working wit ha client.

That's normal if you have Always Echo Current MIDI Track enabled in Preferences (the default). SONAR does not allow having an input set to None while the track is echoing and will automatically change it to 'Omni' which is the same as All Inputs - Omni. I generally leave this option disabled, and manually control all echoing; I don't generally change tracks so frequently while recording that it becomes inconvenient.

Many's the time I've seemingly locked up or crashed and noticed that the top of the window reads "SONAR Platinum [name of project] Not Responding".
 
I simply leave it alone for however long it takes and usually in 99% of these cases Sonar comes back.
Followed by a VERY quick save!!
