My favorite channel strip is probably Waves SSL, but they will cost more than an upgrade to Platinum. 



Very big +1 on the Waves SSL bundle.
Used it for years... 
Works well on just about anything (does particularly well with acoustic drums)

ahhh yes. i'm sure it is perfect.
 
for my purposes though, i'm sure Plat will do fine.

spent some time setting up my main template.
 
pro channel kicks it!
 
i have 4 channels of drums, bass, guitar, and synth/loops EACH. 16 tracks total.
 
each group sent to separate stereo buses. those 4 buses get the pro channel strip using the presets as a starting point. 
 
then the master bus gets another pro channel strip and breverb added as an effect.
 
so far so good. sounds great.
 
i like of the extras. addictive drumming sounds pretty good, but i see it as a potential money pit, and i can't get it to play through my system beyond the kit demos. another thread.
