Sitting here will feel like party indeed. But I believe we wouldn't be able to accurately perceive the audio for that they really are. Our perception will be coloured by the influence of the surrounding visuals. I bet if you sit here most kicks will sound like they are Vengeance kicks, dark and clean. When you are in a more neutral environment you will perceive them better and will be able to get the difference. That said there is no rule that your song shouldn't be driven by certain influences. After all that's what most people need and thats when the magic happens. But lets say now I wanna sit here and do a orchestal or even most kind of country or pop genres.. this environment with influences of the bright and glossy stuffs here wont help me. It will only be a hindrance. Thats why a more neutral environment is ideal. Or everyone should have an environment (or interface in terms of daw) that's best suited to the kind of music they do. Or else a neutral grey is much better. I would love myself to sit here and work in this S series, that will be absolutely great. But eventually I gotta get home from the party. Not for all kinds of songs and definitely not for too long.

I agree, but I think there are people who want a color that is more suitable for a particular kind of sounds/music they make. For example, heavy metal composers probably desperately need black.

Yes agreed. Take the first picture I posted Wouldn't it be bang on to sit there and do a remix or dub-step or what ever something that evokes a night life experience. Its something indeed!

On the other hand, I think sonar's interface gives a neutral balanced feel. Plus the Dark, Bright, mono colour templates in colour tab in preferences window really helps. Also I believe while looking at the colour like grey we perceive the sounds for what they are, while the influence of some fancy colours does change the way our brain perceives the audio. Yes! precisely they colour our perception. It seems..  A grey or some something like that is like having a colour that helps our brain for flat perception.

I would never have thought along these lines. You guys bring an interesting twist to this. I suppose some of the music from my past could be thought of in the same way, and how it made me interested, and influences a lot of what I do today. Tangerine Dream, Kraftwork, Floyd, Yes, ELP to name a few, were 'colourful' music productions, and maybe, they were recorded/produced under vastly different to the norm conditions. I suspect they were. So, to turn it around to our own environments, would it make a difference to what we lay down? Maybe so. OK, so bring on the colour by choice. I for one, would like to know the answer.

Interesting topic.

Yes, I totally agree. I hope the current GUI will be either the default or one of available themes in the upcoming UI update.

Wishing the same. Hope someone from cakewalk intimates this.

So many apps involve gray. Years ago when Sony changed Vegas to the gray scheme and they mentioned that research showed it was easier on the eyes.  Tracktion 7's color scheme sucks.

Just previewed some Duckbar screenshots. Not bad at all. Looks great.

That's nice information, I hope the New UI themes has mild colour's. They can bring some different kinds of grey's as well. Like the kind of grey in Vegas etc. A vintage theme emulating old versions of sonar will also be good. Not really looking forward for some garbling themes. Although one of such will be good, too.
