HELP!! Please.
Using X1 Producer.  I have a simple 6 audio track project that I just recorded.  No plug ins or effects added yet. Plenty of computer power. I Just split one track in 5 places and the software started several LONG saving processes preventing me from doing any other work.
Thanks.

Could disable autosave, increase the number of changes before save or set it to 0 to save by the clock only.
Plenty of unfragmented disk space?
Is the picture cache full?

Thanks Scook.  I disabled auto save and that solved the short term situation.  However, when I did normal save it took a very long time to execute.  Having dropouts too.  I guess I'm having broader performance problems.  Will try customer support.
My computer is defragged weekly automatically.  Don't know how to check my picture cache.
Thanks for you help. Any further comments would be welcome.

Man, am I out of touch.  No phone support for X1 Producer.  "Knowledge Base" support completely unusable.

Larry, It's possible that just your Sonar file is fragmented - the symptoms fit and it has happened to me very occasionally.

SOLUTION:
Defrag the Sonar file by: saving as a bundle (.cwb) /// Close it down /// Open the Bundle file again ///

If the above works, (it should automatically defrag the file), you can then re save as a normal file for ease of access.

Thanks Mark.  Tried it but no change.  Since my original post I have a refined/new set of symptoms.  When I hit ctrl-s the systems start "working", shows as "not responding" on and off and then after about TWO MINUTES the save process shows and executes normally.  Any other ideas?

The picture cache is a folder. The path to the folder is in Preferences > File > Audio Data "Picture Folder." Sometimes clearing the folder by deleting all the entries in the folder helps performance.

How full is the drive? How old is the drive? How long is the project?

I just transferred the bundle to my nearly new laptop and the file works perfectly.  So the problem is clearly in my desktop and the ASIO driver.  I guess as a final fallback I can uninstall and reinstall X1.

Scook,.
The drive is about 2 years old.  Had 4700 files and deleted them all except the 6 files I was working with. No changed but thanks for trying.

So the problem is clearly in my desktop and the ASIO driver.

It is unlikely the ASIO driver is affecting disk I/O. That would be easy to test by using a different driver mode or interface.
