I will give $1000.00 to the first person to show up at my house by 11:00 a.m. today. You must accompany my wife, her sister, and my niece to a wedding this afternoon. The wedding is being held at farm in upstate New York. The ceremony will performed inside a barn. Yes, I said a barn. The weather forecast is calling for a high of 95 degrees F. The reception is also outside. I've been told that wearing shorts would be inappropriate, as would a short sleeved shirt. There will be no alcohol served. There will be no pool or lake or pond for swimming. Just a farm....in the middle of freakin nowhere......in the heat. Bring your own good attitude. Mine is shot!

A whisky  hip flask can be purchased for way less that a grand, and fits nicely in a sports jacket or tux top...\

Joy.... Yeah...I think I'll pass.  Maybe next time.

It kinda sounds a bit like the day my wife & I got married..... end of June, 95+ on temps and humidity, sunny day, outside in the sun......in dark suits and ties.

We've been together now for 29+ years...headed to 30 next year...and then beyond.

if you had given me 24 hours notice AND paid for the plane ticket for myself and my wife (who of course would accompany us as our valet),  hotel room and expenses paid while we were in NY plus the 1K, then we could have considered it...

but you waited too late, didncha???

Yes....yes I did. This was one of those things that I agreed to before knowing the details. A mistake I shall not make again. The only bright sides of this affair are that a drummer I played with over 20 years ago will be there and I haven't seen him in that long. The other is that the reception is being catered by my favorite BBQ place.

Well, since you said the faire will be BBQ, the contents of a flask wont be the food/beverage  pairing.

Beer... the requisite amount to be consumed with BBQ will not fit in a hip flask, and two, it will be warm...

A small bottle of oxygen might help you get through the heat and humidity.  The hip flask should help with the attitude and other troubles.
