Hi

Is it possible to assign a midi knob to the tempo change? for instance I'm using sonar as a master clock for my hardware sequencers via midi but when i want to change the tempo i must type the bpm in the tempo venster.  If I can assign a midi knob to that, it would be more dynamic and easier.

Use the hardware sequencer as the master, slave SONAR to the sequencer clock, and use the tempo knob on your sequencer.

Hi Craig
thanks for the replied
I was thinking about that but unfortunately my hardware synths and sequencers don't use midi.
The only thing digital is my midi to clock, cv and gate converter.
I'm very old berlin school.
I'm afraid I have a project this weekend and build myself a master clock unit

Sounds like you'd really like Arturia BeatStep Pro, it can interface with just about anything and it's a very stable master clock.

You'll love it. It's even pretty easy to use, but you can go really deep if you want to. It's also much advanced compared to the original BeatStep. Being able to drive a MIDI synth, something over USB, and a CV/Gate Minimoog is quite cool

so, I've tried a few things here trying to slave Sonar's tempo to an MPC and Maschine without success- obviously, I need to read a bit more, but am fairly limited on personal free time- (I am a bit concerned I might irrevocably screw things up, just clicking ) would you (or any other forum member) be kind enough to indulge me and post how I might enable Sonar to slave tempo to hardware, or is that a specific capability of the Beatstep ?

Thanks in advance

I usually sync things to SONAR so I'm a little rusty on the reverse but I have done it in the past. If someone doesn't answer here I'll do it as a tip of the week. IIIRC it's kind of a "combination lock" where several different parameters have to be set correctly for things to work. Often it's a preference on the hardware device, e.g., making sure stop/start is enabled as well as MIDI clock.
