  • Is it possible to assign a midi knob to the tempo change? (p.2)

If you are using  eurorack, you can use the a-190-1 as midi to cv, gate and clock converter. set in clock parameters send midi clock and you have a clock pulse on the a-90. You can then use a clock divider to get the timing you want.
This how i work now.

ok, so...not quite so easy then ? I almost bought a beatstep pro on the way home from work this morning, you made it sound so easy peasy...and then I thought, waitaminute....

Well, it IS easy...once you figure it out

that's what I used to tell my kids when they had problems with their math homework....then, with math being a favorite subject, I'd lecture them to tears on it, now, they don't tell me- they just go to mom

Hi Craig
I've got the beatstep pro. And it's fun, but i wonder how you have manage to slave sonar to it.
The start stop is no problem but tempo change i can't figure it out (even read the manual)
I must have missed something

I'll look into doing step-by-step instructions for this week's "Friday's Tip of the Week."

Be aware that soft synth tracks will not follow tempo changes from an external source. Here's a post/thread about this and other issues related to slaving SONAR to a changing tempo from an external clock source (e.g. SONAR does not display or record tempo changes from an external clock, either):

It occurs to me that a workaround for the buffering/pre-rendering issue with soft synths would be to route the MIDI out and back in using a virtual MIDI cable like LoopBE so that soft synth output is generated in real time rather than being pre-rendered. Awkward, but should work.
