'Fresh'...?

James - you must not have ever had one before.  they get "stale" after a period of time and the insides turn a darker color.  the taste is very different when they get that way, much harder texture to the inside and sticks to your teeth more.  when they're "fresh" (early shelf life) they taste much better!
