  • Insert Measures doesn't slide the markers?

I want to use the markers to note the big chunks of my song. (Verse 1, Chorus, etc.) When I add some time in the middle, using "Project -> Insert Time/Measures," it slides everything to the right, except for the markers, even though the "Slide Markers" check box is selected.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm running the latest Sonar Platinum, Version 22.0.3 BUILD 71 [2016.03]

Thanks!

I do not know, I tested here by checking the option "Markers" (below Events in Tracks" option) and it worked.

Hmm ... Here's something strange, which makes me think I've found a bug. I'd been trying this on a new project, with just a marker in it. If I try to insert time before that marker, it doesn't move. But, if I have an event on a track at or after that maker, when I insert time in front of it, it moves just like I'd expect it to.

(Rogerio, thanks for poking at it for me!)

You are right! Another bug in Sonar.

If you don't have any event AFTER the marker, the marker will not be moved!!!

It's a shame, in my opinion, something that should be simple becomes very complex in Sonar.
This coincidentally has a similar content of another editing problem, with this topic I created yesterday:

They may even say it is a concept of Sonar, but I think it should prevail ease of use.

I don't recall ever having a marker that existed after a song was over, but the workaround is to have any kind of data past the marker in any track that's selected for moving. You can slip-edit a clip, add an automation node, etc. to add data past the marker.

It seems these kind of issues relate to something fundamental in SONAR where it doesn't know what to do if something exists only in the timeline (i.e., there is no associated or corresponding data in the clips pane). So my guess (remember, I know nothing about coding!) is that there's either a simple fix that would solve all these issues, or the issue is so embedded in so many areas of the code it would be a nightmare to fix.

Where is the problem?
I just tested it and it moves the events with the markers.
I use this function 20 times a week and never had a problem since Cakewalk does audio.

If you have an empty project template, with for example with 20 pre-existing markers, which are necessary, but its positions must to be flexible.
You will then inserting measures and you need that all markers to the right to be moved, but these markers has not yet events after it.
This is something that does not work in Sonar, so it was reported here.

Insert also doesn't move meter changes or tempo changes.   My work around is a little scary, because you are deleting your work, but ...     select all the time range from your insert point to the end, select all tracks, use "cut special" and select markers and meter and tempo changes (do not select 'delete hole').     Then, making sure the topmost track is the 'focus' track, go to where you want the material to be (as in, if you are inserting two measures, change now time to where it was plus 2)  and use paste.

Then, to avoid other mysterious bugs, select all the midi tracks again and run 'bounce to clips'.   (track view, Clips, option)

Are you on the most recent version of Plat? I seem to recall some fix recently that involved moving these with Insert. Or maybe I dreamed it...

I'm on Kingston ... have had a hard time recently figuring out the status of more recent releases,  what's a good stable version, though I paid my dues.
