I am always amazed at how many people, who I thought had died years ago, have managed to hang on until the day before their obituary is published.
Some even beyond it! When my grandfather passed away (he was pretty well known locally in San Diego), the paper there posted a picture of Pappy Boynton (the pilot and actor in the Black Sheep Squadron) along with an obituary (my grandfather had a similar name and also went by Pappy).
The paper retracted everything the next day, but I still have that obit in my archives.
Mark Twain was a more famous example. Gotta love his quote: "Rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated." LOL!
