I'm tracking several instances of my Taylor acoustic, which has their older pickup system ("Expression System 1"). I couldn't track with microphones, which I'd have preferred to do (because my downstairs neighbours are having a rather loud karaoke party), so I had to record direct.
The result tends to be kind of indistinct, a little muddy and bassy, so for a couple of the tracks that featured more melodic playing, I gave in and jacked up the treble while I was recording so I'd get the right feel when I played.
The problem now is, predictably, there's hiss throughout those tracks. Would anyone know offhand the easiest way, using only the tools in Sonar Platinum, to make those tracks seem to have less hiss but still retain the brighter guitar flavour? I've already trimmed them to their minimum length to eliminate the hiss when those guitars aren't playing, but it's still really noticeable whenever they come in during a quieter passage. Would one of you know offhand what bandwidth (or whatever LOL) I should cut and which tool I should use?
It would be great if I don't have to try to play all those tracks over again.
