I've enabled Peavey StudioMix in every version of Cakewalk/Sonar for years.
How do I enable it in SP?

thanks,

You've got good mileage out that. They were released in 1999 I thinK.

I'm not in front of Sonar at the moment but it should be the same as most versions of Sonar, through the MIDI section of Preferences is where the menu is located.

Use as an ACT controller.

I would guess that it is the same... I was using it in X3e and plan on using it in SPlat later this week... I'll certainly post my situation with it afterwards...

As I can't afford to upgrade the iPad software I use for remote visual, I still use the Studiomix for transport control while recording myself doing vocals...

I created an ACT surface.  There seem to be some StudioMix presets, but they don't work correctly.
So, I tried defining the ACT myself.  It works somewhat.
Play, Stop and the volume sliders are good. The jog wheel only jogs by full measures right now.
Yes, StudioMix is an old toy, but it's always been solid and useful.
Wish there was a template already constructed to import.

Wouldn't the original controller plug-in still work? The one from the DigiTech GNX 4 still does.

If you were using it before this, it should be (almost) ready to use again in SPlat...

I found that my Studiomix setup was right where it should be next to my Markus control setup.
All I had to do was edit it to allow for the different midi port system I have now... (Just I/o needed to be selected)

I created the entry back when the Studiomix was released and it has migrated to every Sonar release since.

Last night I did a vocal session by myself using the Studiomix for transport control and my iPad for wireless visual of the screen... I was in the studio, not the control room...

Note that I do keep the faders disabled as the jitter drives me nuts and it's too hard to remember and reset all the faders every time I need to save! ;-)

If you need the setup particulars, I can probably find them. It has been near a decade since I last looked for/at that! ;-)

Sonar Professional only shows about 4 or 5 Controller/Surfaces available.  Prior versions had a slew of surfaces, including the StudioMix.

Why does Cakewalk keep doing this.  If something existed in prior versions, why not carry it over, or at least, give us the option to install it.  Although StudioMix is an old piece of equipment, it is still solid and useful.  I have the same problem with my V-Studio by Cakewalk.  It took me a lot of work and research to modify the installation files to allow it to work under Windows 10.

Both these items were branded with the Cakewalk logo, which I thought would be supported.  I don't know how I can justify buying another piece of Cakewalk hardware again!

Cakewalk/Sonar does still support it and I still use mine...

Change is inevitable... Believing something will next change is futile... ;-)

If you still had it on the original OS/machine with the same version of Cake-product, it would still be the same...

Some things eventually must be changed due to other changes.. The universe is in a constant state of change! ;-)
