I thoroughly understand that we are in a constant state of change and I can accept it as much as the next guy.  But, when I paid a few thousand dollars on a piece of equipment that bears the company logo, I expect said company to support it and it should last more than just a few years.

None-the-less, thanks scook for the link.

Does Ford still offer parts for a 1940's car?

Your analogy is faulty.  Ford would have to produce NEW parts for the 1940's car.  Cakewalk took out a function that was already there.  BTW... I had the same problem with my Cakewalk V-Studio 700 ($5000) only 5 years old.  Does Ford make parts for a 5 year old car?... YES!
You're missing the point.  I am not the only one with complaints like these... the internet is full of them.

Anyway, sorry for taking up everyone's valuable time... and thanks again to constructive posting from scook.

Several thousand for StudioMix?

I just want to add that since close to nothing has changed in API, it is supported in the latest Sonar the same way as in older versions. As we can not expect 1940 car get MP3 player and navigation from Ford (and for free in addition), I hope you are not expecting dedicate ProChannel support for StudioMix.

In fact I have tried to give it a "new live", my the device I harvested on e-bay has severe aging problems (with faders, encoders and communication).

And for "Cakewalk" label, do not forget that people which develop Sonar and people which put the label are different. For VS you can send all your "likes" to Roland, what CW can do with the fact it was sold to other company?

OK... I have 2 StudioMixes and Scook's link above fixed my problem.  I just migrated to a newer system and the new Platinum installation didn't come with StudioMix Support.  I was still able to find a solution within 5 minutes of trying to set mine up.

Three more things that I'd really like to see.

1)  Cakewalk would remember to load up the preset for the second StudioMix to control channels 9-16
2)  Or better yet, the preset load could be automated with the timeline, although I could foresee a lot of slamming
2)  The ability to use the controllers on the bus channels as well as the track channels

We can always wish, right?

On a philosophical note...

I really admire the engineering and quality that goes into good products of all types, especially musical instruments and equipment.  The StudioMix is really a cool piece.  Very well built, and I would have killed to have one of these and the equipment it interfaced with back in the analog days.  That would have been a very neat and usable setup.

So, although I only paid about $150 for my two StudioMixes, I am very fond of them.  They're very useful and have saved me countless hours just in the transport controls alone.  Plus, my clients all think they're pretty keen, too.

All of Sonar is able to mix track.
It is choice the many track with CTRL key + track num is clicked.
If your track is composed by MIDI,You must bounce the track for audio track that is choose the MIDI track with plug in track.
And you must click the "TRACK" on track view.
Then you must apply the bounce to track.
And then you can do adding the effect on audio track and send bus is for all track.
And you can choice the mastering effect.
The sonar is all in one for virtual studio at recording.
Let's try it!

Thanks for this link.  I still have my StudioMix and tried to install in on a new Win10 machine with Sonar Platinum, but the controll surface installers were absent.  This link solved my issue, and I have my old faithful StudioMix working again--everything works.  Thanks
