I would like to know where the manual is installed. I know there is one because I have the X3 manual which I moved to my Google Drive folder so I could read it on my phone. But since then I've done a full wipe & reinstall of Sonar and for the life of me I can't find where they put the manual. I've looked all over my system drive folders and also in my documents folder but no dice.

Go to your C drive > Program Files > Cakewalk > Sonar Platinum (or whatever version you want/have installed) and you'll see the Sonar Reference PDF in the list (if you installed the Cake Content stuff).

Thank scook for that info. He told me where it was a couple months ago.

Cheers.

Is the local help installed?

I downloaded exactly as they said - and 1 to 6 weekdays doesn't work for me.

How do you install local help??  They don't tell you these things.  Oh and the serial number for Addictive drums is not the activation code, I guess.  Today is rare, as I have today off.

As scook pointed out... make sure you actually installed it. It's part of one of the sub packages. It doesn't get installed with the core program. Did you use the Cakewalk Command Center to install the program or are you doing the offline installation (which requires you manually download and install each package)?

If you are using CCC it should show you what's been installed and what hasn't been (green red and yellow lights from what I understand... but I install manually).

Thanks for trying to help me.  I may seem ungrateful, but I genuinely mean that.

When you expand the SONAR Professional item in the Command Center by clicking what is pointed to by the red arrow in the image below, you will see the associated installers. One of them should be the local help. Here is an image of SONAR Platinum expanded to show all of its installers. Notice they all have green lights indicating they are installed and up to date. A red light would mean that item is not installed. A yellow light would mean an update is pending and needs to be installed

If you don't have the Cakewalk Command Center program install the help files will be in your store account. Log in and click on the various entries. They expand and give a description of what each download is. You should see the local help documentation stuff in there somewhere. Download it and use Right Click > Run As Administrator to install it to default locations. Sorry I'm not in my store account so can't tell you specifically where.

For AD2, as I said, you have to go to XLN's site, create an account, download/install their installer program, then use the s/n number Cake provided for you so you can then go through the XLN store and choose your desired ADpaks (the drum kits) and MIDIpaks (loop libraries).

AD2 doesn't actually come as it's own program. It's just the engine. You essentially buy the ADpaks (which Cakewalk bought for you with you purchase... you just need to redeem the codes) and the AD2 engine comes with the adpaks.

Also XLN forces you to use either Internet Explorer or (I believe) Safari as your default browser for the installer program to work. You also have to ease up certain internet security settings (I forget which ones) before it'll connect. So if you have strict security settings, use the wrong browser as default, use scripblocking software and a bunch of other stuff that all has to be temporarily changed until the program/Paks are installed.

It's a huge pain in the balls but once it's done you don't have to worry about it again unless you want to purchase more ADpaks. AD2 sounds great but the installation is a freaking nightmare.

The XLN support guys are the ones who help me get through all that mess. Cakewalk might be able to help a bit but really XLN are the better bet to get things like that sorted.

Cheers.
