Sometimes it happens that if I open a project, my Faderport starts operating randomly before the tracks appear onscreen and it stays like that (the project doesn't actually open)
I find that if I:
  1. terminate Sonar from the task manager
  2. launch it again
  3. delete Faderport from the list of surfaces
  4. open the file
  5. re add Faderport
  6. save
that actually fixes the problem

Just thought you should know...

I have noticed that this happens if the midi hardware inputs and outputs have changed since the project was created/saved. When the faderport starts to behave randomly and the project stops loading, if you move the fader manually the project will continue to load. You then still have to delete and reinstall the faderport under control surfaces to have it operate correctly.

Once the project is resaved with the correct midi io settings all seems fine.

I have this happen when I load old projects sometimes. When it acts randomly, I'll manually move the fader, and it will tell me there's a plugin on the project that Sonar can't find. Hit "ok" and then it will finish loading, and then you can delete the none existent plugin(s) and save.

I occasionally get the fader jogging up and down and the project will never load after touching the fader (that stops the jogging).

If I kill SONAR and restart everything is OK. No need to do anything. This can happen on recent or old projects.

I'm disappointed to be reading this as I just ordered a FaderPort ...

I have really only found it be be a problem when opening old projects with different midi IO Bob. It has worked perfectly since I resaved the projects with the faderport installed.

Thanks Bruce.  I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best

Its a handy little controller Bob. One thing I remember I did do was set the order of midi outs in preferences so that the faderport was last, and edit the ttseq.ini file so that the faderport was also the last midi input. I haven't had any trouble since. Give it a try if you run into problems.

And once I have everything set the way I want it set, I set the attributes for ctrlsurface.dat and ttsseq.ini to read only.

Thanks - great idea. I always back them up but never thought to do that.
